On Wednesday night Mafaking scouts went to All Saints Church info North Ferriby to learn about the village’s involvement in WWI. The church looked amazing with the knitted poppies and soldier silhouettes along with story boards telling individual villagers’ sacrifice.
We were lucky to have Mike from World War One: East Yorkshire Villagers at War who helped compile the historical accounts come along with some of his artefacts to talk to us about them and the war in general.
Afterwards we all walked up to the cenotaugh to add our poppy stones to the display ready for Sunday.
If you want to know more about the East Yorkshire villages at war there is a hands-on display in North Ferriby village hall this weekend. If it’s anything like the sample we got on Wednesday it’ll definitely be worth a visit.
